Understand the Horizontal Directional Drilling Process
Our drilling technicians follow a proven process which consists of three main stages:
Pilot Hole - After creating entry and exit holes, we will drill a pilot hole into the surface. Anta HDD engineers steer and locate the drill underground using a transmitter and receiver. The bore will follow a prescribed path at a predetermined angle as agreed upon during the project planning phase.
Reaming - During the second phase of the process, we will enlarge the pilot hole to achieve the agreed-upon diameter. Reaming is often completed in several stages, particularly for large bore holes.
Pipe Pulling - Finally, the requested pipe product is connected to the drill string. Starting from the exit pit, the pipe product is pulled along the pre-reamed path towards the entry pit, where it is then connected to the utilities.
